These bosses range from slightly bigger than a human being, to Attack on Titan scale, but above all else, it’s their traditionally Japanese designs that piqued my interest. Though it is a given that the grunt mobs are generic and repetitive, the boss monsters are where the real action is at. The various monsters are actually pretty well designed this time around too. The attacking animation, reloading animation and basically everything about the game’s animation-style is wonderful as well! If any of these has to have a definite weakness, it would have to be the fact that the characters don’t actually move during those rare bathing moments (more on that later), but that’s a very minimal complaint of mine as it doesn’t really affect the gameplay. Oh, and everything runs silky smooth at 60 fps. The lighting is incredible, the colors are actually pleasant to look at and the best part about it is that the game seldom slows down during even the most intense moments. The visuals of the game are breathtaking for a PS Vita upscale. As such, the gameplay is simple you hunt down demons, you purify them to pick up their loot (Weird but it makes sense, lore-wise), you go home and build/upgrade your equipment, and then you proceed to develop your relationship with your Demon Slaying Colleagues. ![]() ![]() Toukiden is an Action Role-Playing game similar to Monster Hunter or Freedom Wars, and was developed by the good people behind Dynasty Warriors. While the original Toukiden was an awesome game in its own right, Toukiden: Kiwami ups the ante and delivers an even more engrossing tale, beautiful graphics, and the ability to cross-play with your PS Vita toting friends. Toukiden: Kiwami is an update to 2014’s Toukiden: The Age of Demons and features upscaled graphics, more demons, more characters and a brand new story towards the ending of the original game. In fact, koei techmo is pretty much the only company to this date that still develops high quality, full tripple A ps4 games for the vita like dynasty warriors for example.Swords and Demons and Guns?! What more could you want? In fact, unlike a lot of handheld ports of console games with terrible framerate and graphics, the toukiden games are the best looking games available on the vita with kiwami running at a solid 30 fps all the time no matter how intense is the action or number of enemies while also maintaining stutting visuals and graphics in general. Playing the vita version is pretty much the same experience as playing the ps4 version but, of course, with lowered graphics and on the go. In conclusion, if you want portability, go for the vita version but if you want graphics and much better performance, go for the pc version. Personally, i dont give a crap about this because when i go out to explore maharoba hills: maharoba road is just for materials, to kill medium size oni which are easy to kill and for join operations. I say weridly because the otherworld is a much much bigger area. I do have to mention the fact that when you are exploring maharoba hills: maharoba road with 3 members the game runs like crap (maybe a solid 20 fps) but weirdly enough, when youre in the otherworld with 3 members the game actually runs at a stable 30. ![]() It has some issues and minor frame dips (drops maybe down to 25 fps which honestly doesnt make it unplayable but it catches up quickly and goes back to a solid 30 unlike, for example, the vita version of borderlands 2) but overall the game maintains a solid 30 fps when youre exploring the world. ![]() I bought the vita version at 40 dollars over the pc version because of portability and lower price. Yes the graphics are not as good as the pc or ps4 version and the models are worse than kiwami but its perfectly enjoyable.
